What is Mould?

Mould is a fungus consisting of small organisms. In minute amounts may be harmless, however can still be dangerous. Once mould finds a good spot to sit, such as a damp area, it will start to grow. Mould spores can be released into the air where they can be inhaled, causing health issues.

How To Remove Mould?

Mould should not be taken lightly, mould will release spores into the air causing health issues. If you have mould in your building or home, give us a call to make a removal plan. Certain types are not that dangerous however there are certain types that can cause major health concerns and should only be removed by a trained and certified professional, rooms with mould need to be treated and contained properly.

What Are Common Areas For Mould Growth?

Mould typically forms in cool, humid/damp, dark areas of buildings or near heating/cooling appliances such as:

Why Is Mould Dangerous?

Some people are more sensitive to mould than others, mould exposure can lead to symptoms such as stuffy nose, wheezing, itchy or red eyes and skin. Severe reactions can occur which may include fevers or shortness of breath. People with weak immune systems or asthma are particularly prone to reactions and infections from mould. Continuous exposure can lead to further problems down the road.

I Have Allergies / Asthma, Am I at a Greater Risk?

If you have allergies or asthma, your immune system can overreact to inhaled mould spores, causing a more intense reaction. A reaction can cause coughing, itchy eyes, chest tightness, etc. It can also restrict breathing. At times there may be a delayed reaction to these symptoms.

I Can't See Mould, Can I Still Have Mould in My Home?

Yes, mould is commonly found behind walls and dark, damp areas we tend to not see. If mould is not visible, we may need to test for the presence of mould using air testing methods or opening up walls and other areas prone to mould growth.

How is Mould Removed from My Home / Building

We remove mould in a similar fashion to asbestos. We often set up a containment work area to eliminate contamination to the rest of the building. We use specialized filtration and/or air movement to remove the airborne mould spores which we're completing the remediation process

Can I Stay in My Home/ Building While the Remediation is Taking Place?

No, under most circumstances, we require all occupants leave the home during the remediation process to ensure everyone stays safe and healthy during the process. We lock all doors when we leave and make every effort to keep the building safe during this period. For large buildings, occupants are not allowed in or around the work area.

Do You Use Safe Products in the Removal Process?

Most of the time, the products we use are completely safe and aren't any more harmful than vinegar. The products are very eco-friendly. In the rare occasion we need to use something stronger, we ensure a thorough clean up process is completed afterwards.
