Dehumidifier
Dehumidifier (LGR)
Removes moisture from the air so evaporated water is captured rather than re-absorbed by materials.
What it does and why it is used
A low-grain refrigerant (LGR) dehumidifier pulls humid air in, condenses the moisture out, and returns drier air to the room. Working alongside air movers, it captures the water that evaporates from wet materials so the space actually dries rather than just moving moisture around.
Typical restoration applications
- Controlling humidity during structural drying
- Capturing evaporated moisture so materials reach a dry standard
What to expect on site
One or more units will run in the affected area, draining collected water to a nearby drain or reservoir.
Typical operating times
Run continuously, usually for 3 to 5 days, alongside the air movers.
Noise
A steady hum, generally quieter than air movers.
Safety
Safe to have running while you remain in the home.
Can it be turned off?
Please leave it running - turning it off interrupts drying and can extend the project.
